DATE: February 24, 2010
HOUR: 6:30 PM
PLACE: Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, East Region Service Center, 1225 East Broadway Street, Oviedo, FL 32765
PURPOSE: The purpose of this meeting is to review nominations and determine the eligibility of nominees to run for the Board of Directors. AGENDA: - Call to Order

Disaster Relief for Haiti |

We have been receiving many inquiries concerning the disaster relief efforts for the Haiti disaster and specifically how you may desire to participate in some fashion. Our disaster network provides information received from many sources including the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management, State of Florida Emergency Management, and other agencies. As you are witnessing from media coverage, the situation remains very fluid and disaster relief efforts change continuously, which is common for a disaster of this magnitude.
U.S. and International Search and Rescue Teams in operation have reached over 260 total members (aprox 20 SR Teams) with more being deployed. U.S. Military assets have been in operation and are expanding in capacity as well. The American Red Cross is active in the disaster recovery efforts as well as many other recognized international disaster relief organizations. The U.S. resources include military, federal, state, and other typical disaster response groups and is expanding hourly. Other countries are actively engaged in the response and relief efforts as well. Many religious groups are also engaged in disaster relief response and have organized response teams and can be effective in distribution of supplies and financial assistance.
Please use caution if you receive telephone, e-mail, text, or social network inquiries to make financial contributions. Most organizations and agencies do not solicit for contributions unless you are a subscriber or member of that organization. A number of scams have already began to surface. If you wish to participate in some fashion, one of the best sources to evaluate what agency or organization you may choose may be acquired by visiting the web site for the local and national media outlets. They will post numerous organizations that are identified as reputable disaster relief resources. In most situations, you would need to specify you desire for your contribution to specifically apply to the Haiti Disaster Relief efforts.
We hope this provides a little clarity on the disaster relief efforts and methods of participation. These relief efforts will expand over the next several weeks/months.

Carillon Monument Project |

Due to the large amount of thievery going on with the neighborhood monuments in Carillon. As a result, the Board is currently acquiring bids for a new style of monument lettering. In the interim, the remaining letters of ALL the monuments have been removed (so as not to leave the remnants of what once was complete words). |
